Medicare rebates:
Individuals can access up to 10 psychology sessions per year if they have a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from their GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician. The full fee is $270 for a 50 minute session, with Medicare refunding $137.05 (the out-of-pocket cost is $132.95). If you have reached the Medicare Safety Net, Medicare will refund $243.40 (the out-of-pocket 'gap' cost is $26.60). Please note that Adelaide Perinatal Psychology does not offer bulk-billing.
Non-directive Pregnancy Counselling is available to assist women who have any concerns related to a current or recent pregnancy (within the past 12 months), whether it has been full-term or part-term. Medicare covers up to three sessions with a psychologist per pregnancy. You will need a referral from your GP or obstetrician to access these sessions, however you do not need a Mental Health Care Plan. The full fee is $270 and Medicare rebate for these sessions is $68.45.

A referral is not required if you wish to pay privately or claim through your private health fund (please contact your health fund for further information on rebates that may be available).
